Client Testimonials

What first attracted you to Cape Verde?
Because someone had a dream, saw the potential of an Island and followed through with the development. Then an opportunity arose that showed me the dream, the possibility and the potential of a good return on an investment.

It was one that didn’t leave me with the worry of owning an overseas property I had to upkeep, re-rent out and may be difficult to sell on.

So apart from sun, sea and sand, a glorious swimming pool and a few lazy days a year, I could see the potential and it felt right for me.

Had you visited Cape Verde previously?
No, but I have travelled all over Senegal and was fully aware of the Islands and the Resort developments.

I’d also heard very positive feedback from friends who have visited Cape Verde often.

Was that on one of our Inspection Tours?
No but I have since visited Cape Verde on an inspection tour, in October 2016.

How did The Resort Group PLC look after you?
I was made very welcome, well looked after by the Resort staff and especially by the person who accompanied me to Cape Verde. I had a really good time.

Did you look at a series of different properties before you made your final decision?
Before I knew about the investment potential in Cape Verde, I had previously looked at hotel accommodation investments in the oil fields in North Dakota and Texas, USA but realised that was a very unstable proposition. I had also considered buying a house for rental in Washington State, Montana or Florida, but again this was not a practical or secure investment. I had limited resources and in the Cape Verde scenario presented, I trusted the options shown to me. Also, the nearest country is Senegal, which seems to be one of Africa’s most politically stable countries so the growth and independence of Cape Verde was an important factor too.

What made you choose this investment over other options?
As mentioned, my resources were limited and I choose this option because it met my need for a regular income. It removed my funds from the UK stock market and offered a way forward for income and capital growth which I didn’t see being a possibility in the UK. It was quite scary to make the final decision, especially with Cape Verde being an island country off the coast of Africa. Personally, the process of considering this investment changed my thinking and removed my UK safety net so it was a big thing to do.

What was the process to invest?
The overall process was surprisingly easy, fast and efficient.

What’s your favourite thing about the Resort and what’s the best activity?
I just love the pools, and walking along the beach, the Friday party, the entertainment, the food and not being hassled by local people selling their wares. Also, knowing there is plenty of security on site, so it all feels safe. The best activity? Just being able to switch off and relax in the sun and in peace.

What’s your favourite thing to do on Sal Island?
Going into Santa Maria, to a little beach bar, seeing local people, the fishermen, the local crafts and having a great dinner.

A perfect day
Drawing back the curtains to see the sun, being in ‘Africa’ and knowing today is my day. Having the perfect breakfast with a sea view, a swim, good book, wandering around the Resort, a great lunch and a lovely room to go back to after walking on the beach taking photos. Not having to listen to overloud music, voices and activities means you can just find peace and quiet.

What are the advantages of investing with The Resort Group?
Understanding that the company is genuine, financially secure and has a great product. Personal contact and updates are maintained in the relationship with The Resort Group PLC and others involved in the investment process, so that I don’t get that feeling that they’ve got my money and then, that’s it… no contact.

What are the advantages of investing in Cape Verde compared to other overseas places?
I don’t know much about other places but Cape Verde is where I have committed myself to and am trusting in. Yes, I am happy at the end of the process and have had a good experience with The Resort Group.

What piece of advice would you give to future investors?
Do your research, listen and talk to the marketeers, trust your gut feelings to tell you if it’s right for you. Every investment carries risks, but believe it will be ok. Personally, my present and future well-being lies in these Islands.

Now you know the Islands, if you could describe Cape Verde in 5 words.
New world, (full of) sun, sea, life.

Had you visited Cape Verde previously?
I had never heard of Cape Verde until my inspection tour.

How did The Resort Group PLC look after you?
We really had a wonderful time and the Resort Group looked after us very well. Very friendly and helpful.

What was the process to invest?
The process to invest was so simple and easy, with great help from my local reps.

What’s your favourite thing about the Resort and what’s the best activity?
The Resort is beautiful and with pools, bars and restaurants everywhere, drinks and foods are always plentiful.

What’s your favourite thing to do on Sal Island?
I had lovely day out quad-biking on the dunes of the Island with my sons.

What are the advantages of investing with The Resort Group PLC?
My main focus is sound investment – Cape Verde gives me good returns and it’s hassle free.

What were your experiences with The Resort Group PLC?

I’ve had guaranteed returns without any worries and no bills to pay, this is all landlords’ dream.

What first attracted you to Cape Verde?
I think the main attraction was that it is relatively unspoiled, which makes a pleasant change from places like Spain with all their English bars and souvenir shops. The climate is also attractive with a comfortable range
of 25-28ºC and no rain.

Had you visited Cape Verde previously?
I had never visited Cape Verde previously and until my involvement with The Resort Group PLC, had not really noticed its existence. It is a hidden gem, which appears to be increasing in popularity as a great alternative to Europe and the Canaries but only a couple of hours further away.

Was that on one of our Inspection Tours?
No, I had already invested in bonds and two property investments prior to my visit. The visit was ideal for us to see the Resort and the Island for ourselves and get a first-hand idea of where our investments lay.

How did The Resort Group PLC look after you?
We had a great time. It was relaxing and ideal for a break away from our busy lives. I didn’t really have any contact with The Resort Group PLC until later into our holiday when I asked Richard if there were any companies he would recommend for an island tour to see more of the local culture. He put us in the hands of Eneida Tavares who kindly booked us a tour with Eagle Tours.

Did you look at a series of different properties before you made your final decision?
Richard presented White Sands Hotel & Spa to us and we liked what we saw so were happy to invest without seeing anywhere else.

What made you choose this investment over other options?
The returns were much better than we were getting with our ISA and other investments we looked at and we felt this was the best option to make our money work for us.

What was the process to invest?
It was simple, we closed our ISAs and invested by bank transfer.

What’s your favourite thing about the Resort and what’s the best activity?
My favourite thing was the relaxed atmosphere. One of the sayings around the island is ‘No Stress’ and this is certainly the case. My favourite activity was being inactive and relaxing in the sunshine with a drink and good company.

What’s your favourite thing to do on Sal Island?

The island tour was great. We visited various places such as Palmeira to see the fisherman bringing the fish into market for the locals to buy, the salt mines, the desert mirage, walking out to see the sharks and seeing the real Sal with a visit and lunch at Espargos.

Take us through your perfect day at the MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa.
Wake up when we wanted to rather than when we had to. Down to the Aqua for breakfast with some friendly banter with the staff. Then a walk along the beach to walk off breakfast. We then wandered back to the Gabi bar for a coffee and a relax in the sunshine. After a light lunch, we would spend the afternoon by the pool or taking a walk to the other side of the resort. We would have dinner at one of the various choices of restaurants then we liked to head for the Odyssey bar to have a drink and listen to the live music or take a walk down to the amphitheatre to see one of the shows.

What are the advantages of investing with The Resort Group PLC?
It’s a good return on our investment. Backed by a number of well-known stable companies giving us confidence that our money is invested wisely.

What are the advantages of investing in Cape Verde compared to other overseas places?
It is a growing economy and is becoming more popular as a destination from various parts of the globe. This again gives more confidence in the returns on occupancy.

What were your experiences with The Resort Group PLC?
Everything was handled efficiently and in a friendly manner from start to finish. If ever I had a question, the answer would come quickly and fully explained. Payments are always on time and there are more opportunities available if we wish to invest further.

What piece of advice would you give to future investors?
I have worked in the airline industry for 35 years, including 15 years with Britannia Airways, so I know a little about the tourism industry. This combined with involvement by the Meliá Group, another reputable business, should give you the confidence to invest.

If you could describe Cape Verde in 5 words, what would they be?
Friendly, relaxed, unspoiled, warm and inviting.
